Ryan O’Neal tells jury his removal of Warhol portrait from Fawcett’s home wasn’t a secret

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Ryan O’Neal says he wasn’t trying to keep it a secret that he removed an Andy Warhol portrait of Farrah Fawcett from the actress’ home after her death.

Ownership of the artwork is at issue in a trial between O’Neal and the University of Texas at Austin, which is seeking the portrait for its museum.

O’Neal began testifying in a trial on Monday morning.

The Oscar-nominated actor says the Warhol portrait he removed belongs to him and was a gift from the artist. The university however contends that Fawcett left the portrait to her alma mater.

Warhol created two portraits of the “Charlie’s Angels” star in 1980. One version was given to the university, which is suing O’Neal to gain possession of its twin.
