Ford wants Wynne to meet with him rather than man who holds most of his powers

TORONTO – Troubled Toronto Mayor Rob Ford isn’t happy that Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne is meeting with the man who now wields most of his powers.

Wynne is expected to meet with Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly at noon, but Ford says she should be talking to him instead.

Ford has sent Wynne a letter saying it “would be most appropriate” to meet with the elected mayor.

He says he’s also available today if she wants to meet with him.

Wynne’s staff say she’s meeting with Kelly to see how work is progressing at city hall, saying it’s her priority that Toronto city council continues to function.

It’s become a concern for the governing Liberals after Ford admitted to smoking crack and binge drinking.

Wynne’s staff say she’s met with Ford and city councillors in the past and will continue to do so.
