Conservative law group seeks to question Clinton under oath

WASHINGTON – A conservative legal group is asking a federal judge to order former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to face more questions under oath about her use of a private email server.

Judicial Watch filed a motion Friday seeking to depose the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. At issue is whether the State Department conducted an adequate search of public records in response to a Freedom of Information Act request. The group has filed several lawsuits seeking records from government agencies related to Clinton’s tenure as the nation’s top diplomat from 2009 to 2013.

U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan previously approved requests for several of Clinton’s closest aides to submit to questions. Sullivan scheduled a hearing for July 18 to hear arguments on the request from Judicial Watch to depose Clinton.
