Edible balloons, frozen treats: Ice Cream Museum is coolest

NEW YORK – A temporary museum dedicated to all things ice cream is opening in New York City, treating visitors to a pool of faux rainbow sprinkles, edible balloons, a Chocolate Chamber and, of course, scoops of heavenly ice cream.

The Museum of Ice Cream is the lifelong fantasy of 24-year-old, co-founder Maryellis Bunn.

It opens Friday and runs through Aug. 31.

A visit begins with a free scoop of ice cream, followed by helium-filled, edible balloons that transform visitors’ voices into high-pitched squeaks.

The biggest attraction is a pool filled with 11,000-pounds of confetti-colored sprinkles. Visitors can immerse themselves in the fake candy. But posted rules caution. A dip in the pool could “cause spontaneous happiness.”
