KAMLOOPS – A pedestrian walking along Highway 1 East in Valleyview was hit Monday night by the mirror of a passing vehicle that did not stop after knocking the man into a nearby ditch.
Kamloops RCMP says the incident took place around 7 p.m., Oct. 27. The two pedestrians were walking westbound along the north side shoulder when one was struck.
The man closest to the traffic was struck and both were knocked into the ditch in the 2300 block of the East Trans-Canada Highway between River Road and Highland Road. The 53-year-old man hit by the vehicle was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the other pedestrian, a 43-year-old man, suffered only minor injuries.
Police are trying to determine the type of vehicle involved by the debris left at the scene and are asking for anyone with information to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
