MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Police in Tennessee say wrestler Jerry “The King” Lawler and his girlfriend have been arrested on charges of domestic violence.
Officers arrested the 66-year-old Lawler and 27-year-old Lauryn McBride after responding to a call at Lawler’s home Thursday night in East Memphis.
News outlets cited an arrest affidavit that says the couple told officers they got into an argument that turned violent. McBride said Lawler hit her on the head and pushed her against the stove. Lawler said McBride scratched his face and kicked him in the groin.
Police arrested both because they weren’t able to determine the primary aggressor.
Lawler was released Friday and said he appreciates his fans’ support. Records show McBride was set for release on her own recognizance.
World Wrestling Entertainment said it has suspended Lawler.
