VERNON – If items went missing from your car overnight, there’s a chance police have both the culprit and your belongings.
Just before 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, police were called to the 900 block of Waddington Drive, where two employees caught a man rummaging through a staff vehicle. The suspect was flipping through papers and personal contents inside the vehicle.
Police arrested the 30-year-old man and found him in possession of several pairs of sunglasses, an iPod, a flashlight and other items. He was lodged in police cells pending an investigation of the items.
A short time later, police were called to another report of a theft from a vehicle in the 1800 block of Kosmina Drive, a block away from where the suspect was arrested.
“Our officers feel this suspect may have rummaged through more vehicles in this area between midnight and 7 a.m. today and owners may not have reported the thefts yet,” RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk said.
If you lost items like those mentioned, call the detachment at 250 545-7171 and ask for Const. MacQueen.
