Kamloops Mounties will be looking for impaired drivers on 4-20

KAMLOOPS – If you're planning on taking part in tomorrow's 4-20 celebrations, you're going to want to make sure you have a safe ride home.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says police will be patrolling in Riverside Park tomorrow afternoon, April 20, in anticipation of the marijuana demonstrations.

This year will have the same amount of police response as previous years, Shelkie says, which means extra patrols will be in the area and officers will be responding to calls as needed.

"We would like to get the message out that smoking and ingesting marihuana, and then driving, is impaired driving," Shelkie says.

Police are encouraging people who partake to arrange for a safe ride home, as officers will be looking for impaired drivers.

Demonstrations have also been held in Spirit Square on the North Shore in years previous.
