Colourful week as fall brushes Kamloops with vibrant colours

KAMLOOPS – It was a colourful week in Kamloops, with vibrant skies and the leaves showcasing how beautiful fall can be.

While Mother Nature threatened cooler temperatures and rain early in the week, things improved with normal temperatures in the mid-teens and cloudy skies mixed with sun to add drama to the sunrises and sunsets. The leaves continue to change to knockout hues of orange, gold and red around the city.

The week also brought yet another tournament to the city as the Under-16 Canadian Soccer Championships began Thursday at McArthur Island. Nearly two dozen of the top teams from around the country settled into Kamloops this week to vie for the title of either boys or girls national champions.

Grade 3 Dallas Elementary student Gemma Hughes was named the Junior Fire Chief for the day on Thursday. The young girl donned her special jacket, hard hat and a huge smile as she joined city firefighters in putting out a fire and breaking windows in a car at the training centre on Bunker Road, all the while telling the firefighters what to do next.
