VANCOUVER – Darren Mattocks scored twice to lead the Vancouver Whitecaps to a 3-1 victory over the Houston Dynamo on Sunday night.
Jordan Harvey added a late goal as Vancouver won its sixth of the season to move to 22 points and fourth in the Western Conference standings.
Substitute Macoumba Kandji scored a consolation for Houston which stays on 16 points.
Mattocks, the second overall pick in this year’s MLS Superdraft, scored in the fourth minute before doubling the hosts advantage in the 66th minute. The Jamaican forward took a pass from Gershon Koffie and fired a right-footed shot past Tally Hall to make it 2-0.
