New Calgary studio expected to boost Alberta film production

CALGARY – A new film studio and permanent sound stage is to be developed by Calgary Economic Development.

The $22.8-million studio is scheduled to be running by the summer of 2015, but no location has been announced.

The facility will feature two purpose-built sound stages with the ability to subdivide the larger studio.

There will also bewarehouse and workshop space.

Alberta’s film, television and digital media industry was responsible for more than $400 million in economic activity over the last five years.

William F. White International will be the anchor tenant for the film studio and will act as the sound stage operator.
