Boil water notice for Armstrong

ARMSTRONG – The City of Armstrong and the Interior Health Authority have issued a boil water notice.

The notice covers customers who get their water from the City of Armstrong, according to a media release.

The City says the water quality is poor thanks to increased total coliform counts.

Customers are being asked to boil tap water for one minute before using it for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth.

Armstrong is currently getting its water from wells and the water has a high manganese content that makes chlorine less effective as a disinfectant, the City says, adding the turbidity in the Fortune Creek water supply is too high and not suitable.

No word on how long the boil water advisory will last or what caused the high coliform counts in the water supply.
