Vernon gets $336,000 grant for sustainable infrastructure

The City of Vernon has received $336,000 in funding for its Sustainable Infrastructure Investment Plan from the federal Gas Tax Fund. 

Mayor Rob Sawatzky says the plan is a long-term strategy to manage and fund the renewal and replacement of the city's infrastructure. He says it will identify means to increase revenues for asset replacement and identify opportunities to reduce costs. The result will allow the city to provide sustainable services to its residents and for future generations.

“The City of Vernon is grateful to receive this important and valuable funding. Our city is a resilient, environmentally and financially sustainable community that attracts and retains families, business and industry. Funding infrastructure renewal is essential to ensure a safe and functioning network of roads, sewers, and City owned buildings. It is a key part of the future viability of the City of Vernon and the services it provides," Sawatzky says.
