2 more sentenced in New Orleans human trafficking case
NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Department of Justice says two more Tennessee residents have been sentenced in a human trafficking case in New Orleans.
Federal prosecutors said Wednesday that 31-year-old Christopher Williams and 34-year-old Laquentin Brown, both of Memphis, Tennessee, were sentenced to 15 years and eight years and four months in prison, respectively, for their roles in a sex-trafficking scheme at a New Orleans motel.
Five additional defendants have pleaded guilty and been sentenced. Four of them are also from Memphis, Tennessee; the motel owner is from New Orleans.
A news release says Williams and Brown admitted conspiring to recruit and coerce women to engage in prostitution. It says Williams also admitted to intentionally trying to impregnate his victims to make it harder for them to leave.
