Washington’s Sea-Tac airport expects delays caused by storm

SEATTLE – Sea-Tac International Airport has warned passengers to expect delays as a winter storm hampers holiday travel.

KING-TV reports the airport in Washington state recommends travellers plan for congested drive times.

Officials have also asked customers to consider using public transportation to reach the airport 14 miles (23 kilometres) south of Seattle and 25 miles (40 kilometres) north of Tacoma.

Before Thanksgiving, the Transportation Security Administration predicted an estimated 26.8 million passengers would pass through security checkpoints between Friday and Monday.

In addition to an increase in holiday travellers, officials say the storm is complicating air traffic nationwide.
