Canadian filmmaker missing in Cambodia, friends find disappearance unusual
Friends of a Canadian filmmaker say the 58-year-old man appears to have mysteriously disappeared in the Cambodian city of Siem Reap.
Dave Walker, who a friend says was living in Cambodia for a year and a half, was staying at a guest house last week when he stepped out while a housekeeper came to tend to his room.
Peter Vronsky says he was told Walker left his room last Friday with only a bottle of water and never returned.
Vronsky says when Walker’s Cambodian business partner went to the guesthouse to meet with the Canadian later that day, he found the man’s cellphone, laptop, luggage and passport still in the room.
The business partner contacted local police and has been searching parts of the city looking for Walker, who hasn’t been heard from since.
Walker and his business partner had set up a film company in Cambodia in July 2012 called Animist Farm Films.
