Sports court set aside previous decisions to clear Jamaica’s Campbell-Brown of any violation

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Court of Arbitration for Sport has confirmed it cleared Jamaican sprinter Veronica Campbell-Brown of any anti-doping rule violation.

In a statement on Tuesday, CAS said it set aside earlier decisions by a Jamaican disciplinary panel and an international review board that was recommending a two-year suspension.

The Switzerland-based court’s announcement came a day after Campbell-Brown said she was cleared to return to competition.

The court says the three-time Olympic gold medallist argued that WADA’s standards for testing were violated during the course of collecting her urine sample.

Campbell-Brown made headlines in May when authorities announced she returned a positive test for a banned diuretic. She was provisionally suspended while a Jamaican disciplinary panel reviewed the case.

She says she would never “resort to illegal means to success.”
