Snowboarder killed near Pemberton on weekend was from Whistler: coroner
PEMBERTON, B.C. – The BC Coroner’s Service has identified a snowboarder killed near Pemberton on the weekend.
Jonathan Unger, 29, of Whistler, was part of a group that was skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling on a rural forestry road on Sunday.
When he failed to meet up with another member of his group in the late afternoon, that person immediately began a search for him.
Unger was found unconscious in a tree well in an area with about a metre-and-a-half of fresh snow.
He could not be resuscitated.
The coroner’s service and RCMP are investigating what happened.
