Virginia man opens home to Chinese tourist hurt in crash
FAIRFAX, Va. – A Fairfax man has opened his home to two tourists from China as one recovers from major injuries sustained in a bus crash.
WRC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2ezRHaq) Yijing Du and her 28-year-old son, Bin Jiang, were riding in a bus June 14 when it crashed head-on with a car on George Washington Parkway in Mt. Vernon, Va.
Du was injured in the crash and had both of her legs partially amputated.
Jiang created a GoFundMe page to help with Du’s medical expenses, which are expected to top $100,000. The page was soon discovered by Fairfax resident Chris Dodge.
Dodge, who had just started studying Mandarin, invited Du and Jiang to live with him in his two-bedroom apartment indefinitely.
Doctors say Du’s recovery is expected to take six months of intensive treatment.
