Baruchel, Pare, Ryder join list of presenters at Canadian Screen Awards

TORONTO – Jessica Pare, Jay Baruchel and Serena Ryder are among the homegrown celebrities set to appear as presenters at the Canadian Screen Awards.

CBC-TV says Baruchel will be part of the tribute to filmmaker David Cronenberg for the director’s lifetime achievement award. Baruchel co-starred in Cronenberg’s 2012 drama “Cosmopolis.”

The award itself will be presented by Cronenberg’s long-time collaborator, actor Viggo Mortensen.

The Canadian Screen Awards celebrate the best in Canadian film, television and digital media. The cloning saga “Orphan Black” leads the TV nominees while Denis Villeneuve’s surreal mind-bender “Enemy” tops the film contenders.

Veteran stage and screen star Martin Short will host for a second year in a row.

The two-hour broadcast gala airs March 9 on CBC-TV.

Previously announced guests include comic Dave Foley from the upcoming CTV sitcom “Spun Out,” Tatiana Maslany of Space’s “Orphan Black,” Shay Mitchell of M3’s “Pretty Little Liars,” Jason Priestley of TMN/Movie Central’s “Call Me Fitz,” Anna Silk of Showcase’s “Lost Girl” and CBC-TV personality George Stroumboulopoulos.
