OTTAWA – Canada’s economy expanded by a better-than-expected 2.9 per cent annualized growth rate in the final three months of last year, despite a weakening in December. Analysts had estimated 2.5 per cent growth in the quarter. Statistics Canada said December saw a decline of 0.5 per cent from November, ending a string of five month-to-month advances.
