Like father, like daughter: Alexa Ray Joel nails down her own residency at NYC’s Cafe Carlyle

NEW YORK, N.Y. – While Billy Joel continues to sell out Madison Square Garden, his daughter will be tackling a smaller New York stage.

The Cafe Carlyle said Tuesday that Alexa Ray Joel, the daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley, will perform from April 1-12. Her six-time Grammy-winning father is playing the Garden every month for as long as New Yorkers demand.

The younger Joel has released the six-song EP “Sketches” and a single, “Notice Me.” In 2011, she had her own residency at the storied Oak Room at the Plaza Hotel.

Her new gig will take her to the lounge inside the Hotel Carlyle on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a place where Elaine Stritch and Bobby Short performed. Prices range from $50-110.
