Austrian authorities arrest Ukrainian businessman on American arrest warrant for bribery

VIENNA – Austrian authorities say they have arrested a wealthy Ukrainian businessman on an American warrant charging him with bribery and other offences.

The Federal Criminal Office said 48-year-old Dimitry F. was arrested Wednesday night in Vienna without incident and is now being held pending extradition proceedings. The agency said the FBI had been investigating the suspect since 2006.

The office did not disclose the suspect’s last name, but Austrian media identified him as Dimitry Firtash, one of Ukraine’s richest men.
