Alberta Premier Redford grilled at Tory board meeting after tough week

CALGARY – Alberta Premier Alison Redford faced some tough questions at a party board meeting after what she admits has been a tough week.

But Progressive Conservative president Jim McCormick says Redford didn’t back away from hard-hitting questions during the more than four-and-a-half-hour meeting at a Calgary hotel.

In fact, he says she received a standing ovation.

McCormick says the — quote — “$45,000 question” did come up during the discussions, referring to the premier’s costly trip to South Africa for Nelson Mandela’s funeral in December.

Redford declined to comment on accusations in the past week that she’s a bully, other than to say those people were emotional and would likely regret what they said.

She says no one at the meeting asked her to resign.
