Ranger leaves Leafs game on stretcher after hit from Lightning’s Killorn

TORONTO – Paul Ranger had to leave the Toronto Maple Leafs’ game against the Lightning on a stretcher after his head hit the boards following a hit from Alex Killorn.

With a 4.1 seconds left in the first period, Killorn boarded Ranger, who went down to the ice and remained there for almost 10 minutes. The defenceman moved his legs but not much else after the hit.

A stretcher was brought onto the ice as Rangers’ Leafs teammates huddled around and four Tampa Bay players remained on the ice.

Officials ended the period early.

Killorn was given a five-minute major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct.
