TORONTO – Paul Ranger says he’s OK less than two days after suffering a neck injury.

The Maple Leafs defencemen, who was injured when he was boarded by Lightning forward Alex Killorn in a game on Wednesday, was not treated for a concussion, according to coach Randy Carlyle.

Ranger called himself “thankful” that it wasn’t worse. When he was on the ice, he could feel the neck pain immediately and that his mind and body went into “preservation mode.”

The 29-year-old did not take part in Toronto’s practice Friday but was able to go on the ice for the team photo.
