Wickenheiser helped Canada win women’s hockey gold in Sochi with broken foot

TORONTO – Canadian women’s hockey star Hayley Wickenheiser helped Canada capture a gold medal at the Sochi Olympics while playing with a broken foot.

The veteran forward was sporting a walking boot while at the Hockey Hall of Fame on Tuesday as a guest speaker at a summit on Canadian hockey.

Wickenheiser said she has had the injury for about a year and found a way to work around it.

Wickenheiser’s Olympic gold in Sochi was the fourth of her career.
