Chief prosecutor challenges Oscar Pistorius in 2nd day of cross-examination at murder trial

PRETORIA, South Africa – Oscar Pistorius has resumed testifying at his murder trial and is being challenged by the chief prosecutor, who has disputed the athlete’s account that he mistakenly killed his girlfriend in his home last year.

Chief prosecutor Gerrie Nel was questioning Pistorius on Thursday, a day after a graphic photo of Reeva Steenkamp’s head wounds from a gunshot was shown in court.

In Wednesday’s court session, Nel asked the double-amputee runner to look at the photo and take responsibility for what he did, but Pistorius refused to look at the image, saying he didn’t need to because he had been at the scene.

Pistorius says he shot Steenkamp by accident, mistaking her for an intruder. The prosecution says he intentionally killed her after an argument.
