Transit Police say man charged with sex assault arrested for breaching bail

VANCOUVER – Transit Police in Vancouver say a 20-year-old man already charged with sexual assault is in more trouble with the law.

Const. Kevin Goodmurphy says Balachandran Thushyanthiran has now been charged with another offence — breaching his bail conditions.

He says the Richmond, B.C., resident is prohibited from SkyTrain property, but has been arrested for riding a train.

Police say the condition was imposed after a March 19 incident, when he allegedly approached a 23-year-old woman from behind and tried to pull down her pants.

Goodmurphy says combating sexual offences on the transit system is one of the top priorities for Transit Police.
