Toronto FC benefiting from bye week but team trainers still working overtime

TORONTO – Toronto FC is enjoying a bye week in Major League Soccer but the team trainers are still working overtime.

Toronto has had as many as 10 players in the training room this week.

The good news is that star striker Jermain Defoe worked out Thursday, even if it was apart from the main squad. Defoe has missed the last three games with a hamstring issue.

Defender Doneil Henry has also resumed light training after a calf and knee injury.

Midfielder Michael Bradley did not practise. He is nursing a nagging foot issue.

Manager Ryan Nelsen says he hopes to have everyone back healthy for the next game, May 3 against the visiting New England Revolution (2-3-2).

The exception is midfielder Jeremy Hall, who has an Achilles injury.

After playing four of its first six games on the road, Toronto (3-3-0) now plays five of its next seven at home including an Amway Canadian Championship date with Vancouver.
