Four people pulled alive from Fraser River after tug boat overturns

NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. – Four people have been pulled alive from the fast-flowing waters of the Fraser River near New Westminster, B.C., after the tug boat they were in overturned.

The tug capsized near the Pattullo Bridge, sending those on board into the river.

An assistant fire chief says all four people were pulled from the water, but their condition is unknown.

The coast guard hovercraft is at the scene of the accident.

The water of the Fraser River is moving swiftly through the Lower Mainland as it nears peak levels and flood waters make their way down from the Thompson River.

The B.C. River Forecast Centre has issued a high stream flow advisory for the lower Fraser, with the pulse of water expected to pass by this weekend.
