Toronto Mayor Rob Ford will take a leave of absence from his re-election campaign to seek help for substance abuse, his lawyer said Wednesday as new media reports about the mayor emerged. Some quotes related to the new revelations:
“I can’t vote Liberal cause I don’t like what (Ontario Premier Kathleen) Wynne’s doing, not because she’s gay, I just don’t like the corruption, NDP I’m just not left-wing.”The comment, allegedly by Ford, is on a recording obtained by the Toronto Sun which purportedly was recorded at a Toronto bar on Monday. Ford told the newspaper he couldn’t remember saying the things on the recording but confirmed he was at the bar that night.
“On a personal level, I am relieved Mayor Ford is getting help. My thoughts are with the Ford family.” Mayoral rival John Tory.
“Taking a break to deal with his health issues takes courage. I wish him and his family well.” Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath.
