Kara Lang named official ambassador for next summer’s World Cup in Canada

TORONTO – Kara Lang has been named Canada’s first official ambassador for the 2015 Women’s World Cup.

The 27-year-old from Oakville, Ont., had planned to play in the World Cup next summer in Canada before her comeback was derailed by a third serious knee injury.

Lang’s first official job as ambassador will be attending Canada’s friendly versus the United States on Thursday in Winnipeg.

Lang has played in two women’s World Cups over the course of her nine-year international career.

She was the youngest player to represent Canada at the international “A” level, making her debut in 2002 when she was just 15.

Lang, who has worked as a broadcaster during her injury layoffs, will also work for TSN at the World Cup next summer.
