US man to get life in prison for tossing 2-year-old daughter in car seat into creek

FREEHOLD, N.J. – A New Jersey man who tossed his 2-year-old daughter into a creek while she was strapped into her car seat is expected to be sentenced Wednesday to life in prison.

Arthur Morgan III is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.

He was convicted of murder last month in the death of Tierra Morgan-Glover, whose body was pulled from a creek in a park near the Jersey shore in November 2011.

Prosecutors say Morgan killed his daughter to get back at her mother for breaking off their engagement.

They say he weighed down the toddler’s pink car seat with a tire jack.

Defence lawyers had asked the jury to convict Morgan of reckless manslaughter, which could have seen him freed in as little as five years.
