Person of interest released after woman found dead near southern Okanagan lake

OLIVER, B.C. – RCMP in Oliver, B.C., have released the person taken into custody following a suspicious death at a south Okanagan lake.

Const. Kris Clark says charges have not been laid and an investigation is continuing.

The body of an unnamed woman was found near the shore of Saw Mill Lake, just outside Oliver early Saturday morning.

The person of interest was arrested a short time later but was released the following day.

Police have not said how the woman died or why they consider the death suspicious.

Her name is not being released until relatives have been notified.
