Lexie Lou runs to emphatic win in Woodbine Oaks thoroughbred race

TORONTO – Lexie Lou captured an emphatic win in the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks on Sunday.

Lexie Lou finished the 1 1/8-mile filly classic in an unofficial time of 1:49.77 at Woodbine Racetrack.

Wild Cantomine was well back in second place in the nine-horse field, with Llanarmon finishing third.

Earlier, We Miss Artie, the 1/5 favourite, rallied to win the $150,000 Plate Trial Stakes, the prep event for the Queen’s Plate on July 6.

The Queen’s Plate Winterbook favourite appeared boxed in at one point but found an opening to win his first-ever race at Woodbine, finishing the 1 1/8-mile event in 1:50.78 on the polytrack.

Majestic Sunset was second in the seven-horse field, with Tower of Texas taking third.
