TORONTO – Allan Reid has been named president and CEO of the Juno Awards, MusiCounts and the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
He succeeds Melanie Berry, who announced in April she would end her decade-plus run steering the annual music gala.
Reid had been director of MusiCounts, a music-education charity.
He took on that role in 2010 and simultaneously established a management company, with clients including Royal Wood and producer Gus Van Go.
He has also worked at Universal Music Canada and MapleMusic.
Reid will assume his new role on July 1.
“We identified Allan as a proven leader who is well respected within the music industry and beyond,” said CARAS chairman Ed Robinson in a release.
Added Reid: “There has been a terrific amount of growth for CARAS during the last decade and I’m excited to build on that momentum with the support of the board and leadership team and to continue celebrating Canada’s diverse musical heritage.”
