QuickList: Sobeys, Foodland, IGA, Safeway store closures across Canada

Sobeys, which is owned by parent company Empire Co. (TSX:EMP.A), announced Thursday that it will closing about 50 underperforming grocery stores across the country.

A company document obtained by The Canadian Press outlines which stores are scheduled to close and when the lights will go dark at each location. Some of the locations fall under the Sobeys brand, while others are IGA, Foodland Safeway and Cash & Carry stores.

Here’s a list of 39 of the stores slated to close. The company declined to provide a full list of locations.

Sobeys — Jasper 104 and Main Street stores in Edmonton; Deerpoint and Fairmount stores in Calgary; Scenic Square in Lethbridge; Pincher Creek; Camrose.

Safeway — Park Meadows Mall in Lethbridge; Parkland Mall in Red Deer; Crescent Heights in Medicine Hat; Ogden in Calgary.

Sobeys — London Town and Douglas Square locations in Calgary; Heritage in Edmonton.
