Mexican border state freezes property of ex-governor

MEXICO CITY – Anti-corruption prosecutors in the Mexican border state of Nuevo Leon have frozen some assets belonging to former Gov. Rodrigo Medina.
The prosecutors have not revealed what type of property has been frozen, and could eventually be seized.
The measure was taken against Medina and 10 other ex-officials in connection with supposed cases of improper state contracts or spending during Medina’s 2009-2015 administration in the northern state.
No charges have been formally filed, but a judge froze the assets as a precautionary measure, prosecutors said Friday.
Current Gov. Jaime Rodriguez had long pledged to bring his predecessor to account for alleged corruption.
