Man charged over threats that postponed The Bandy Perry show

DOVER, Del. – A man charged with making a threat that prompted the postponement of a show by country music trio The Band Perry suggested he might jump the fence at a Delaware concert venue with a gun, authorities said Tuesday.

Dzmitry Papou, 35, of Selbyville surrendered to authorities Monday and was charged with terroristic threatening. He was released on $20,000 unsecured bond.

Police said Papou and another man walked into the Americana Bayside Welcome Center on Sunday and made alarming statements to an employee that led to the postponement of Sunday evening’s show a few blocks away at the Freeman Stage at Bayside.

The Band Perry tweeted that the show has been rescheduled for Aug. 17.

Police said in a court affidavit that the two men came into the welcome centre and asked about getting tickets for the concert. Told that it was sold out, one of the men allegedly asked, “What if we jump the fence?”

According to the affidavit, the welcome centre employee reported that after she told the men they would be kicked out and possibly arrested, Papou responded by saying, “Well, what if we jump the fence with guns?”

Papou acknowledged to authorities that one of the men made a comment about jumping the fence, but he denied that either of them said anything about jumping the fence with guns, the affidavit says.

Police said Tuesday that the second suspect had been identified but not yet arrested.
