Man charged after airsoft guns brought to pro-Israel rally in Calgary

CALGARY – Police have charged a man after two replica handguns were brought to a pro-Israel rally in southwest Calgary.
Officials at a Calgary Jewish Community Centre rally on Wednesday night were checking audience bags, when they discovered two airsoft handguns in one.
Airsoft guns look like real guns and fire plastic pellets.
Police were immediately notified, and the man was taken into custody without incident.
Adam Joseph Dykens, who is 26, has been charged with two counts each of carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a weapon to a public meeting and possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning.
Last week, a protest at city hall in support of Palestinians who have been killed by Israeli fire in Gaza turned violent when a handful of Israeli supporters showed up.
Some men began pushing and shoving, and one man stomped on an Israeli flag before police moved in and set up a line of officers to separate the groups and try to ease tensions.
