VERNON – In 2020, Vernon will be celebrating 60 years of the Winter Carnival, so it only makes sense for its theme to be all about the 1960s.
The 2019 Vernon Winter Carnival wrapped up a month ago, which means it's time to start looking forward to next year's edition.
In a press release, the Vernon Winter Carnival Society announced the theme for the 2020 event: "Carnival Remembers the 60s." It's an appropriate pick, one that honours the Carnival's 60-year history.
"We really wanted something special for the diamond jubilee, something that could be fun for all ages and a theme that could help us pay homage to Carnival’s traditions and history," Vernon Winter Carnival Society executive director Vicki Proulx said in the release.
The 2020 celebration will feature events from past Carnivals, along with a general 60s flair. Community businesses and organizations are encouraged to get involved with the Carnival.
The Carnival will be held Feb. 7 to 16, 2020.
