Egyptian court orders a state-run satellite to stop broadcasting local Al-Jazeera affiliate

CAIRO – Egypt’s state news agency is reporting that an administrative court has ordered a state-run satellite to implement its order to stop broadcasting the local Al-Jazeera affiliate.
State-run NileSat said the court ruling Wednesday doesn’t affect it, however, because it doesn’t carry Al-Jazeera Mubasher Misr.
NileSat said the station is broadcast through a French satellite.
The station has broadcast from Qatar, the home base of the network, since last year following another court order demanding it shut down and accusing it of harming Egypt’s national security.
On Wednesday, the court said Al-Jazeera Mubasher Misr broadcasts fabricated news to incite violence and is part of an “international conspiracy that aims to divide the nation.”
Egypt accuses Al-Jazeera of siding with Islamists ousted from power last year. Al-Jazeera has denied the allegation.
