Search of Brocklehurst home results in recovery of stolen property

KAMLOOPS — A search of a home on the city’s North Shore has resulted in the recovery of an abundance of stolen property by Kamloops RCMP.

Officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2000 block of Parkcrest Avenue today, May 9. The Crime Reduction Unit learned stolen property was being stored at the residence, according to an RCMP media release.

Several police units along with the the police dog services attended the home today and discovered a plethora of builders tools, survey equipment and stolen mail inside the residence. Police also found counterfeit American currency.

Two men were inside the home at the time of the search. One was released and the other, a 36-year-old Kamloops man, was arrested. He was previously known to police.

“It is difficult to put a monetary value on the amount of stolen items recovered today,” Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a release. “We will now begin the process of matching serial numbers to items that have previously been reported stolen.”

The B.C. Prosecution Service will determine charges.
