
Three teams remain unbeaten at Canadian mixed doubles championship
FREDERICTON – Three teams remain unbeaten through 10 draws at the Canadian mixed doubles curling championship.
Saskatchewan’s Shannon Birchard and Catlin Schneider sit atop Pool B with a 5-0 record after winning twice on Thursday, the third day of competition at the 32-team event.
Top Manitoba women’s skip Jennifer Jones and her husband Brent Laing (5-0), representing Ontario, lead Pool C, while Jolene Campbell and John Morris of Alberta (5-0) lead Pool D.
Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant of Newfoundland and Labrador, Dezaray Hawes and Tyler Tardi of B.C., and Catera Park and Cody Tanaka, also from B.C., are tied for first place in Pool A with 4-1 records.
Defending champions Laura Walker and Kirk Muyres (4-1) are second in Pool B.
The playoffs start Saturday and the final is Sunday.
The winners will represent Canada at the world mixed doubles championships, April 20-27 in Stavanger, Norway.
