Indiana Military Museum exhibit project needs funding boost

VINCENNES, Ind. – A military museum in southwestern Indiana has started building 10 interactive war exhibits but still needs another funding boost.

Indiana Military Museum chairman Jim Osborne says a $250,000 state grant and the same amount in fundraising allowed work to start at the former warehouse in Vincennes.

Osborne tells the Vincennes Sun-Commercial the new exhibits will offer visitors insight into World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam and more recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. He says the World War I scene will have trenches and dugouts, and a WWII scene will feature a restored Higgins Boat used on the beaches in Normandy.

The exhibits are designed by a California-based company that does scenery sets worldwide.

Osborne says the museum needs to raise about $500,000 more toward completion.
