Mountie suffers non-life-threatening gunshot wound in Nunavut community

IGLOOLIK, Nunavut – Mounties in Nunavut dodged gunshots, with one officer wounded, after police responded to a report of an armed man in Igloolik.

RCMP say an unidentified male fired shots at their vehicles when they responded to the call on Saturday morning.

Police say the suspect fled, but soon after, shots were fired at the RCMP detachment and other buildings in the community.

One officer received a non-life-threatening gunshot wound during the melee and is receiving medical treatment.

The RCMP Emergency Response Team was called to the community to help arrest the suspect.

He later surrendered without incident and was taken into custody.

Police say they’re still investigating.
