Colombia’s president confirms ‘exploratory’ talks with FARC rebels

BOGOTA – Colombia’s president says his government has held exploratory talks with the country’s main leftist rebel group in hopes of ending a half-century-old conflict.

President Juan Manuel Santos said in a brief public address to the nation that details of the conversations with the leftist Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia would be known in the next few days.
