Victim calls cops, ends up in jail

KAMLOOPS – The man who called the Kamloops RCMP to report a home invasion in progress ended up in police cells himself.

The man in the home on Elder Road called 911 at around 11:20 p.m.

He told police four or five men wearing black ski masks had tried to kick in his front door.

When they broke a window in his home, the victim sprayed the masked men with bear spray.

The suspects took off on foot. The police dog team couldn’t find them.

When the RCMP looked up the victim in their database, they found he outstanding warrants. He is wanted on charges of uttering threats, assault and possession of a firearm.

Police slapped on the cuffs and hauled him to the Kamloops RCMP detachment cells.

He’s scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.
