YTV’s ‘Anne of Green Gables’ film to air on PBS stations in November

TORONTO – The recent TV revival of a Canadian literary classic is heading to the U.S. airwaves this fall.

“Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables” will be broadcast nationally on PBS stations on Nov. 24 as a special U.S. Thanksgiving family television event.

The two-hour movie first aired on YTV earlier this year.

The film featured Toronto-born newcomer Ella Ballentine in the iconic role of Anne Shirley.

Hollywood heavyweight Martin Sheen portrayed shy Matthew Cuthbert, a lifelong bachelor who becomes Anne’s unexpected ally when she arrives at Green Gables.

“Anne of Green Gables” was first published in 1908 and has sold more than 50 million copies worldwide.
